93% in Americans Describe themselves as Christians so why?

My daughter attends a large University, she is in her 3rd year. As a Christian she has had numerous nasty run-ins with atheist professors who have not withheld their hate for Christianity and Christians in general...one told her that EVERY Christian is a moron and 5000 years behind in the times. BTW..my money pay's his salary...and Christian founded this school 137 years ago.

Why on earth do we allow these people to teach our children when the vast majority of us don't agree with these people?

I know most of these people can't get REAL jobs outside of accademia...they can't survive in the real world...but why should we put up with these nasty liberals who are so far outside the main-stream of the vast majority of us. I've read in a survey that not one describes themselves as a Christian...92% vote democratic.

why do we put up with this?

93% in Americans Describe themselves as Christians so why?
According to a recent poll by a New York state university, only 4% of the nation considers themselves to be atheists, yet everything in this country is bent so as not to upset atheists.

As far as I can see, they shout the loudest. That's why things are the way they are.
Reply:maybe because your daughter was being a smart mouth, or was trying to tell the professor he doesnt know jack because the bible is the word of God. You know some people just dont respond to positivly to that type of discussion. If she sounds anything like yourself then I would say it was because she was being very arrogant.
Reply:Are you a wicked sinner?
Reply:It would be my guess that professors, in the process of trying to teach actual knowledge, get exceedingly sick of being interrupted, contradicted and challenged by brainwashed students who don't know how to think properly, presenting their alternative views derived from the myths, superstitions, fairy tales and fantastical delusions of a tribe of ignorant Bronze Age fishermen and wandering goat herders.. with which YOU probably filled her head. The one that told her that "... EVERY Christian is a moron and 5000 years behind in the times" is essentially correct.

It would be interesting to know which classes, specifically, this has occurred in. My guess is that it either had comething to do with biology or general science.
Reply:I agree with you. I went to a Christian college of the Catholic faith. I never ran into any atheists there. I would have a discussion with my child and advise him/her of the mind tricks these so called teachers are trying to get across. A learned pupil is an atheists greatest nightmare. Just ignore his/her rants and try to take what you can from the class. If it becomes a problem report him/her to the dean. Wow, what a pain academia has become when teachers have no faith.
Reply:Satan hold these as his:

Education, Media, politics,Finance, Religion!

How many to day that call them selves christian believes there is no sin? all will be forgiven? there is no hell? There is good in all religions?

May you and your daughter hold strong in the Lord.
Reply:I am Atheist too. Not all atheists are bad and not all Chiristians are good. Please don't generalize everything just in one case of stupid atheist proffesor, He was wrong in expressing His belief .Oh yeah, 92% of chirstian are not the 100% real Chirstians. There must be some of them that never went to church or use it just for identities of social life so people will accept them.
Reply:because the bible tells you to turn the other cheek, doesn't it?
Reply:If 93% of Americans describe themselves as Christian then it is probably because they did not know who was asking the question and feared they might be subjected to an endless campaign to convert them to Christianity if they describe themselves otherwise. I mean afterall, who wants to possibly be vilified as an enemy and condemned as evil? Who wants to become the prey object of a dangerous predator?

You see: If someone just calls a non Christian on the phone one day; this non Christian doesn't know this person from Adam; and they ask if this non Christian is a Christian, then from past experience this non Christian might be inclined to think that an answer in the negative might lead this Christian to initiate an endless campaign of proselytizing in an effort to convert this non Christian to Christianity and thus might answer in the affirmative inorder to avoid the possibility of further harassment.

Throughout recorded history, I find negative examples of fate and destiny for those individuals who ventured to disagree with powerful communities of faithful believers. Deviants were condemned as a dangerous threat to the future of society. Deviants were crucified, burned at stake, hung, beheaded, drowned, banished, exiled, excommunicated, persecuted, tortured, intimidated, interrogated, assaulted, abused, injured, mutilated and or alienated, deprived of property and or status, and or put to death as evil ones, infidels, blasphemers, heretics, and or witches. Maybe today religious intolerance continues to dominate hearts, minds, and wills of enough people to cause those who venture to disagree to take pause, make a rigorous examination of reasons for disagreeing, and assess possible risks and costs of doing so before allowing self to become visible to potentially intolerant communities of faithful believers.
Reply:First of all, I don’t think God affiliates with any particular political party. (Both sides of the spectrum do wonderful, and terrible things).

But yeah, a lot of people (especially professors) get so prideful in what they know, they decided it’s best to ignore what they don’t know. I mean how arrogant is it to say I don’t know it, so must not be true? As much as all of us humans have figured out, we’re really not that smart.

While if they want to be atheist is completely their own choice, I don’t think it’s their place to preach atheism in the classroom, I mean think of the outrage that follows a teacher mentioning anything remotely Christian in a public school.

Still, I think God wants us to gain knowledge, and with the proper perspective, a higher education can really help increase your faith. Tell your daughter to stand up for what she believes in, and to remember that these teachers can only have as much influence over her as she allows them to have.

Best Wishes
Reply:Welcome to the world. I'm sure that because of the run ins with her professors both you and your daughter realize the different kinds of religions(or belief in no god in this case) that exist in the world. Even if they chastise Christianity, it will cause your daughter to introspect into her belief and her religion. I think that this is healthy for her so she can create a foundation for her belief. Besides only by becoming exposed to other religions and ideas, can you differentiate, understand and respect different schools of thought and cultures. I think that this exposure will help her become open minded, and even solidify her beliefs.
Reply:it is still a matter of choice...you can choose to pull her out an attend another college...or...you can sit her down and show her what the bible says thus putting an end to what others might say that is against the bible...you still do have a spiritual obligation to her..and although she is an adult..hopefully by now you would have taught her Gods way since the bible does say if you train up a child in the way of the Lord when they get older they will not depart from it...and finally I would do the work that Jesus said to do ..since only what we do for Christ is gonna last...the commission..is simple preach the gospel unto all the world...gospel is good news ..ABOUT Jesus....not about liberals,,Democrats ..independents,,,or republicans...that is political..not gospel...God bless
Reply:um I am not Christian and I voted for Bush.

actually according to http://www.adherents.com/rel_USA.html

the US is only 82% Christian. but to answer your question. Instead of complaining about it do it the democratic way by getting high quality professors that are Christian into the education system by having them preform better than the Atheist ones.

as long as good atheist professors are more numerous that Christian professors you will have this problem
Reply:A bit disturbing especially Christians founded the school. I would put that question to him as to why he is teaching in a Christian college.

Closed minded (whatever the subject) have no business teaching! Wish I had an answer for you. I do hope your daughter is not listening to them:)
Reply:I will not comment on your rant about not being able to get a job elsewhere.....

So the professor is an Atheist. Big deal. They should not be saying things like that, agreed. Complain. I am an Atheist, but I respect those that believe. Not a good move on their part.
Reply:You're statistics are way off. Only 76% describe themselves as Christian, but of that 76%, only 44% regularly attend services, and about half answer "not very important" to polls that ask how important religion is to their lives. Which means only about 38% are actively Christian and the rest are simply Christian by heritage.

So the answer is, people put up with it beacuse the majority just don't care.
Reply:If you want your child to have and hold inviolate the Truth of the Bible, then you must first have given them the belief to start with. And if you expect a seed to grow you must not only plant it, but water it, feed it, give it proper care and when necessary do whatever pruning is necessary to allow for the best cultivation. In short, you cannot hand your child off to someone else and expect them to be the foundation for the belief you want them to have. That is your responsibility as a parent. Much the same as you do not sent your child to school naked and expect his teacher to clothe him. However if you send him to school in the proper garments then no matter the weather, he should be able to stand the storms. What you give your child as religious food should be able to sustain them through the day even if the people next to them are starving. If your daughter's teachers are religiously emaciated, then perhaps you should supplement her diet with food from home so she does not go hungry.
Reply:Our kids in College should be exposed to a verity of views.

But they should reflect the views of the whole society, not just the left wing.

Peace!
Reply:So whats holding you back, get them on tape %26amp; sue them
Reply:Did your daughter choose to go to that University? There are mainstream Christian Universities. LeTourneau University here in Texas to name one that I know of.

How strong of a Christian is your daughter? not swayed by every wind of doctrine? She as well as every other Christian will come across people who have the very same opinion of our belief in Christ.

Jesus told to expect it. They hate me and will hate you.

I am not sure about some of the things that you have written in regard to their jobs, but we have choice in going to our profs, classes, and most offer an exit review of teachers.

As far as why are they there when no one agrees with them?Because mainstream Christians do not avail themselves to our govt. by voting and being informed and knowledgeable.

The vast majority do not vote, couldn't tell you who is their senator, congressman, state rep. or mayor.

"My people perish for lack of Knowledge"
Reply:Dear Just,

I HEAR YOU

My children are still very young and I am so worried.

I mean what kind of choice is it to choose education and be taught things we dont desire them to , or uneducated and not being able to have a job making enough money to make it.

This is the day we live in and very hard to deal with.

My oldest daughter is 13 and im constantly wondering if I have instilled enough in her to withstand. I am not sure this will ever change, I would say the best weapon is to teach them values at home. My sister inlaw wrote a paper , the professor said they needed to right a full report on the theory of creation, He was an athiest , she was going to become an english teacher and she now has her masters by the way........but anyway she ofcourse told of how she believe that God created all ect........she got an F on her exam and when she asked the professor why since He did say they could write on creation. His response was that is just a theory, she said with all do respect sir so is the THEORY of Evolution .

You know many people believe the mark of the beast is something that will be implanted into the hand or forhead.

I believe the forhead represents the mind and the hand represents power and that the mark is being controlled and trusting in the power of money and government and the world.

Just as the bible says 144,000 jews would have the mark of the Lord written in their forheads, its not literally a mark, but yet spiritually speaking. Gods name is written in my heart ect....

666 is the number of MAN . Oh how I pray I instill the Love of God in my children so that they may stand.
Reply:I agree with you 100% percent. I am also in my 3rd year in college studying Biology but at least the professors are more considerate to other peoples believes.

Atheists complain that Christians are trying to force their believes on others, but they are also doing the same thing.

Those professors don't have the right to treat their students who ARE paying tons of money to pay their education which includes their salaries.

Tell your daughter to not get influenced by this people. If she feels right knowing that God is real, she should ignore these people and focus on getting good grades to make them shut up.

I suggest that your daughter shouldn't confess in the classroom that she is a Christian to science professors like this. Is a little unnecessary and is something personal. Inconsiderate Professors can use this against her, and give her bad grades.

Also if these professors keep harassing her, she should report them to the Department of her Major.
Reply:i dont know of a law that forces ppl to be christian...ppl chose what they want to, believe what they think is right and mock what is stupid in their opinion...that called democracy

now if you dont like this situation you can either

1)lock yourself and you daughter in a convent

2)go live in the dessert

3)make your daughter quit university and teach her all the things she needs

people arent religious these days , what do you expect...?
Reply:i may not go to church but that doesn't make me a bad person, now as for those teachers they do need to get a clue and stop acting like they are. they sound as to be the morons due to the fact that they are upset that they don't get paid the amount that they want.
Reply:Why do most professors profess atheism? Because they know how to think, and are trying to teach your son/daughter to do the same, but in order to do so, they need to clean the crap you forced into your kid's head out first. Faith and Reason are diametrically opposed. If you want your kid to learn, teach them reason and send them to school. If you want your kid to have faith, send 'em to a nunnery/monestary and leave people who know how to think for themselves alone.
