Am I better off as a underwriter or commercial electrician?

I want to do what would pay me more in the longrun. I think I would like both. I will be moving to chicago. As a commercial electrician I would eventually end up making 36.20 a hour plus 1.5 for overtime. Then if I am good I can get promoted to make more money. BUt i'm not sure what I can make as a underwriter because the salary surveys arent accurate.

Am I better off as a underwriter or commercial electrician?
Electricians have practically a job for life. Especially if they become a Master Electrician . skilled trades people are getting older and the workforce is not there to pick up.
